MFT card design superstar challenge card

Back again with another card that I designed for MFT's 'Card Design Superstar contest'!

I again went with a bold color choice, black and white with a pop of gold!
And I again used lots of my favorite My Favorite Things products when making this card:

I started with the MFT diagonal stripes stencil. I used Versamark ink and gold embossing powder to create the heat embossed stripes.
Then I cut the embossed stripe paper with the Die-namics stitched fishtail flag. I cut another flag out of MFT shiny cardstock, layered the two flags, and adhered them to the card with foam tape.
I stamped the sentiment (from the Brushstroke Birthday set) with Versamark, heat embossed with black embossing powder, and then fussy cut the sentiment and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

Watercolor Flowers stamps... LOVE these!!
I stamped them on vellum with Versamark, heat embossed with black embossing powder, fussy cut the flowers, adhered them to the card with foam tape, and added a large pearl to the flower centers.

I had such a fabulous time designing with some of my favorite MFT products!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
until next time....

Card Design Superstar contest

There's some fun going on over on the MFT Card Challenges blog!! They are hosting a challenge called 'You Could be a Card Design Superstar'
There are already bunches of amazzzzzing entries - you definitely need to go check these cards out if you haven't already!!
Since I am a huge fan of MFT, and have been for quite a while, I thought I would give this challenge a go!

Here is my entry:
Go bold or go home, right?!
I used a bunch of my favorite MFT products on this card!!
I started with the diagonal stripes stencil - I used black ink to create the eye catching diagonal stripes. I then die cut the black cardstock frame using the MFT Die-namics stitched rectangle STAX. I stamped a sentiment from one of my all-time favorite MFT sentiment stamp sets, LJD Words of Inspiration . Then I played with my new favorite MFT stamp set, the watercolor flowers set!  I used some of my MFT dye inks for stamping/watercolor stamping the flowers and leaves. After stamping/watercolor stamping the flowers and leaves, I fussy cut them out (I don't own the coordinating dies... yet!), and adhered them to the card using foam tape for dimension.
And of course one of my cards isn't complete without a little bit of bling... so I added a few black rhinestones to the flower centers and an adhesive pearl border around the die cut frame.

This was so much fun to create!! I combined some 'new to me' techniques, like using the stencil and watercolor stamping, and combined them with some of my favorite card making techniques - techniques that you can learn HERE in the MFT Summer School archives such as focal point, gallon/quart/pint, and color saturation.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!
Until next time...

Simon Says: Make It Colorful

I love playing along with the Wednesday challenges at Simon Says Stamp.

This week's challenge: Make It Colorful.

I LOVE color - and I wanted to find a way to make my card super colorful - what better way to do that than with patterned paper!
I added a few black accents to contrast the bold color, and added the fabulous scripty sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Big Scripty Greeting set. A few gold sequins add a little sparkle to the bold birthday punch.

Another great SSS Wednesday challenge in the books! I so look forward to undertaking these challenges every week!!
Until next time...

AEI(heart)U challenge #28: non-white card base

Took on a fun challenge from AEI(heart)U...
AEI(heart)U challenge #28 is to create a card using a non-white card base.
This was a fun one.... here is what I came up with....
I chose to work with a dark charcoal gray cardstock as the card base. The cardstock panel is also a lighter shade of grey, matted with yellow striped patterned paper. I worked with Avery Elle's Weather It stamp set. The umbrella and clouds are paper pieced. I stamped the raindrops with Versamark then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. The sentiment was stamped on a strip of white cardstock and I notched the end. I wrapped some yellow string around the card front and tied a bow. A few clear sequins add some additional sparkle.

Great challenge, thanks AEI(heart)U!!
Until next time....

thank you you're the best

Hello!
I couldn't resist playing along with the latest Color Throwdown challenge #358.

I have always loved the yellow and navy color combo!
Here is my card:
I used patterned paper from an old Teresa Collins 6x6 pad, and I think the journaling card came from the same collection. I cut a strip from a scrap of yellow polka dot paper, notched both edges, and added a thin strip of gold glittered tape. I stamped MFT watercolor flowers with various yellow inks to create the flowers and leaves. The sentiment is from the Hand Lettered Thanks set by Wplus9. Then I added a few gold sequins for added sparkle.
I also followed Freshly Made Sketches sketch #202 when designing my card

Thanks for stopping by!!
